Soon, people who get Supplemental Security Income will get the monthly payment that the Social Security Administration (SSA) planned. SSI will be sent out on two separate November paychecks.
In November, everyone who is qualified will get two different checks or two direct deposits. In reality, there will be no extra or bonus payment. SSA just had to change the plan.
Social Security scheduled SSI payments for November 1 and 29
Your first payment from Supplemental Security Income will be sent to your bank account on November 1, 2024. Of course, it can only be given to people who applied, were approved, and are still qualified.
On November 29, you will have another chance to get money from the Federal SSI program. It’s the December payment, though, so save it for that month and don’t spend too much when you get it.
I have good news for people who get SSI and also get SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance). The payment for retirement or SSDI will come on November 1, 2024, instead of November 3, 2024. It needs to be sent on a business day since the 3rd is a Sunday.
Maximum amounts for SSI in November
None of the November payments will have the 2025 COLA increase. Hence, all recipients will need to wait longer to get this necessary boost. In fact, it will not be until December 31, 2024, when beneficiaries will get the increase.
As of January 2024, the maximum amount for SSI is:
- $943 for individuals
- $1,415 for married couples
- $472 for an essential person
As you can see, married couples will receive the largest SSI payment in just 8 days. Then, on November 29, will receive a new payment, but for December. The new maximum amounts will come into effect on December 31, 2024.
- $967 after COLA for individuals
- $1,450 after COLA for married couples
- $484 after COLA for an essential person
If you know someone whose Social Security payment is too low and have no other earnings, help them apply for Supplemental Security Income.
