SSDI recipients can check the 2025 COLA increase for payments after Social Security unveils it

Since October 10, the Social Security Administration (SSA) has been telling SSDI recipients about the 2025 COLA raise. The increase in Disability Insurance payouts will not happen until January 2025, even though it was announced in October.

The 2025 COLA means that people who get SSDI will see a 2.5% rise in their monthly income. People with disabilities may not be happy with this COLA, but it still means they will get extra money.

How much money will SSDI recipients get on average?

Since the average SSDI salary is $1,539, people who get disability insurance will get about $1,577 on average. Because of the 2025 COLA raise, the boost will be worth an average of $38 for people who get disability insurance.

The government will send you an extra $2.50 for every $100 you get from Social Security. That means that people with disabilities who are eligible for a $1,000 SSDI payment will get further $1,000.

So, people who get SSDI and get a $1,000 payment every month will get an extra $25 every month. That means getting an extra $300 a year, which is a lot of money if you are on a tight budget.

Will SSDI recipients get a COLA increase on their SSI payment if eligible?

People who get Disability Insurance and don’t make much money may also get SSI benefits. If you are disabled and get SSI or Social Security Disability Insurance, you can still get both.

SSI recipients will also get more money in 2025, not just SSDI users. The SSI boost will also be 2.5%, but it may look less like a boost because people who get it will get less money.

The more money you get each month, the bigger your monthly payment will be. Just so you know, your SSI income will go up by up to 23 dollars a month. Check to see if Disability Insurance recipients can get raises:

  • Disability Insurance benefit payment worth $600: after COLA about $615
  • Disability Insurance benefit payment worth $800: after COLA about $820
  • Disability Insurance benefit payment worth $2,000: after COLA about $2,050
  • Disability Insurance benefit payment worth $3,000: after COLA about $3,075
