Deputies search near Cordova for a missing woman

CORDOVA — Police from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office are still looking for a woman who hasn’t been seen in almost 48 hours.

At late Friday night, the sheriff’s office said on social media that Linda McCuiston, 78, had been reported missing.

She had not been seen since Friday, October 11, around 1 p.m. in the Meadowood area.

At around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, RCSO said that had been seen in her yard on Country Canyon Drive.

The sheriff’s office says that on Sunday, officers and search and rescue teams searched the wooded areas around the neighborhood. Searches were also done from the sky with drones.

McCuiston was allegedly wearing black pants and a black shirt, and police say she has memory problems.

The sheriff’s office says there is a Silver Alert, but the N.C. Center for Missing Persons hasn’t said anything about the case yet.

People in the area should look around their homes, especially any outbuildings, and watch their home security video to see if there are any hints as to where McCuiston might have gone.

Call 911 if you think you saw McCuiston.
