The Social Security Administration (SSA) has said when the payment for November 3 will be sent instead. It’s not always the case that funds for retirement, SSDI, and SSI are sent on the same days.
For Social Security funds to go out on time, they need to be moved around when a Federal holiday falls on the same day. That being said, it’s not the only time when a payment for retirement benefits needs to be moved.
Why has Social Security changed the payment date for checks on November 3?
There will be a different payment on November 3 because that day is a Sunday. Since SSA offices and banks are closed on Sundays, the payments may not be made right away.
That’s why the Social Security Administration will send out the retirement benefits on November 1, 2024, a Friday, so that everyone can get their direct transfer or check on time.
You will get both your Social Security and Supplemental Security Income on November 1. This means that your retirement or SSDI payment will also arrive on the same day. People who get both SSI and Social Security will get two checks on November 1, 2024.
Another change Social Security brings for SSI in November
People who get SSI will get two payments in November. There won’t be any extra or bonus money. Again, this is an early payment for the month of December.
The SSI payment will be sent on the working day before December 1, since that date is a weekend. It will be sent on November 29, 2024, instead of December 1, 2024.
So, if you get Supplemental Security Income, your November check will come on November 1 and your December check will come on December 29. Don’t forget to set aside that money for the next month and make a budget ahead of time to make sure you stick to it.
