Coming soon to North Carolina: Whataburger

Coming soon to North Carolina Whataburger

Whataburger is coming to the Triangle. It is a famous fast food chain in Texas.

City records in Raleigh show that Whataburger wants to move into a space that used to be a PDQ and an Applebee’s.

The first Whataburger started in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950. The company is now based in San Antonio. Since then, the chain has grown to over 900 places in 14 states. It is famous for its burgers and is especially loved by people who get hungry late at night.

The company wouldn’t say for sure if it would open in North Carolina, but records showed that Whataburger was in the early stages of setting up shop in Raleigh.

Records show that the business wanted to start at 6305 Falls Of Neuse Road, which used to be a PDQ Chicken. The project documents show that the current PDQ Chicken building and parking lots will be torn down.

There were also early ideas for a location at 501 E. Six Forks Road, which used to be an Applebee’s. According to city records, the plans also called for tearing down the restaurant building and parking lots.

Whataburger told CBS 17 that they couldn’t give any new information about the projects right now.

These will be the first Whataburger restaurants in North Carolina. At the moment, the chain’s restaurants closest to you are in Georgia and Tennessee.
