A third suspect was caught in the 2023 Hamlet shooting

Last week, a man wanted in connection with a shooting from last year was caught.

Henry R’cale Bethea, who is 22 years old, is thought to have been involved in a shootout in the middle of June 2023.

Officers from the Hamlet Police Department were called to the area of Taylor and Fisher streets because shots had been fired. Police say homes on Whitlock Drive, Fisher Street, and Taylor Street were shot into, but no one was hurt.

Investigators say Bethea was recently involved in a fight with a family member in Rockingham. He was later found at a home in the county.

With help from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Bethea was caught on September 25.

Bethea is being charged with one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one misdemeanour count of firing a gun into a dwelling that is occupied. He is also being charged with one misdemeanour count of damage to real property, firing a gun within city limits, and having a gun on city property.

They took Bethea to the Richmond County Jail and put a $250,000 hold on him. He is still there. He has a court date set for December 6.

Twenty-four-year-old Tyrese Davis, from Hamlet, turned himself in on June 29 after the police posted stills from a security film on their Facebook page.

Davis is being charged with the same things as Bethea, and his next court date is set for October 7.

Also wanted for a violent robbery the month after the Hamlet shootout was Ismael Felix Sanchez Jr., who is 22 years old. He was caught in Binghamton, New York, in September 2023 with another robbery suspect.

Records from the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show that Sanchez was found guilty on March 1 of robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting major injury.

Sanchez has had five violations since he went to jail. Two were for fighting, two were for disobeying an order, and one was for a high-risk move.

Sanchez is set to be freed on August 22, 2028, according to records.

Bethea has never been convicted of a crime.

People who are being charged with a crime are thought to be innocent until they are found guilty in court.
