1,300 Duke Energy clients in the Rockingham region

ROCKINGHAM — In Richmond County, more than 1,000 Duke Energy users are without power right now.

The energy company says there are six outages in the Rockingham area, which means that 1,349 of its 15,000 users in the county do not have power.

A map of the shutdown area starts in the south at Scalybark Drive and goes north along one side, east of Long Drive, up to Green Lake Road. The other side angles northwest to Greene Street in Rockingham and then northeast to Lee Thee Church Road.

At this point, there is no clear reason for the failure.

The repair should be done by 8:30 p.m.

More than 530,000 Duke Energy users in the Carolinas are still without power. This is mostly because of Hurricane Helene.

Early in the day, Pee Dee Electric seems to have had several power outages, but there were none when this was written.
