Raider Roll Call: Season high six players of the week were chosen

Raider Roll Call Season high six players of the week were chosen

ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Senior High School football team is one of only two teams in Sandhills Athletic Conference play that has still not lost a game. They have now played six of their ten regular-season games.

Six players helped the Raiders stay perfect last week, and they were all named Richmond’s “players of the week.”

When practice was over on Monday, head coach Brad Denson said that the Raiders’ 36-7 win over Pinecrest High School was due to the whole team, but especially these six players.

Six players were named for the first time this season. Five players were chosen after each of the first five games.

These are the players of the week:

Offense: Chance Crowder (sophomore running back)

Defense: AJ Covington (senior defensive back) and K’Mauri Morgan (senior linebacker)

Special Teams: Billy West (senior kicker)

Practice: Jermaine Bright (junior linebacker)

Weight Room: Eric McCollum (junior running back)

The six Raiders were recognized by being called up in front of the team and given a t-shirt. The gym Top Guns Strength and Performance paid for the event.

Denson and the Richmond football staff choose which players to play each week based on how well they did in their own area.

The Raiders are tied with Scotland High School with a 2-0 record against SAC teams. On Friday at 7:30 p.m., they will face Hoke County High School (1-5, 0-2 SAC).
