FBI NC man jailed for leading initial attack on US Capitol Police officers

A man from North Carolina was just given three years in jail for his part in the break-in on January 6, 2021.

Authorities from the federal government say that James Grant from Cary was one of four people who broke into the limited Capitol grounds and led the first attack on US Capitol Police officers.

Grant was given a 36-month prison term, 36 months of supervised release, and told to pay $2,000 in restitution.

That he hit a police officer with a metal crowd control barrier was enough to get him found guilty.

Officials say that their attack made it possible for thousands of angry people to storm the Capitol grounds.
