Parts of South Carolina and North Carolina are getting heavy rain and thunderstorms

Hello everyone, it’s afternoon. As expected, we are seeing very heavy rain and thunderstorms move ashore along the coasts of North Carolina and South Carolina. They will then move into the middle of each state.

A lot of the Carolinas are likely to have strong to very bad weather, which will finally reach Georgia, Tennessee, and even Kentucky. Heavy convection and banding will continue to move ahead of our slow-moving cold front, grinding to the east thanks to our tropical activity moving north. Not everyone will see strong thunderstorms, though.

Because of this, the National Weather Service has put out a Tornado Watch for a big part of South Carolina, all of southeast and south Georgia, and most of Florida. As time goes on, we expect these watches to get bigger and our storm bands to get stronger.

Right now, we can see heavy, windy showers and thunderstorms coming ashore in the Charleston area, southwest of Wilmington. Charlotte and Savannah are also getting some moderate to heavy rain.

Depending on where you are, the next 24 to 36 hours could bring damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning, heavy rain, and the chance of widespread brief storms.
