An NC hospital was named one of the twenty best in the country by US News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report named a hospital in the Triangle one of the twenty best in the country.

It is the only hospital in North Carolina to make the Best Hospitals Honor Roll. Duke University Hospital in Durham is on the list.

It’s important because Duke University Hospital is a major economic driver in the Triangle and one of the most famous health care centers in the country.

  • People from all over the world want to move to Durham County because it’s what brings them there.

How it works: The U.S. News ranking looked at how well more than 4,000 hospitals did with 20 standard procedures, such as knee replacement and heart bypass surgery, and used data from Medicare, patient surveys, and expert views.

  • For the study, U.S. News worked with RTI International in Durham.

Zoom in: Duke was the only hospital in North Carolina to make the honor roll. It was also named the best hospital in the state.

The 10 best hospitals in North Carolina were:

  • Duke University Hospital in Durham
