The October payouts for SNAP (Food Stamps) with a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) will soon start coming in from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Remember that this COLA raise has a big goal for people who get SNAP. Indeed, the USDA wants to slow down the loss of buying power caused by rising prices and inflation. Food Stamps can only buy a limited amount of food if high inflation makes food prices go up.
COLA – Purchasing power of SNAP recipients
As expected, there will be a new COLA raise for most people who get Food Stamps. One important thing will be different if you live in Hawaii, though. Instead, the biggest perks will be cut down. The COLA for SNAP payments has these pros:

The fact that the 2025 COLA for SNAP starts on October 1, 2024, is a big plus. Not like people who get Social Security, who have to wait until January 3 to get extra money.
First SNAP payment with the 2025 COLA increase
Whether you get the new amount of money on October 1 or until October 28 will depend on where you live in the country. Like Vermont, Rhode Island, North Dakota, Alaska, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, they will all send the raise on the first.
What maximum SNAP amounts to expect from October 1
Live in one of the 48 contiguous states or the District of Columbia? If you qualified for the most money, you could get an extra $1 to $5. So, there won’t be a big difference between the highest numbers.
