Due to changes made in August, the Social Security Administration (SSA) has said that starting September 30, it will start to delete and block accounts. This choice could mean that millions of people who get benefits will no longer be able to use their services.
As part of an attempt to bring Social Security’s system up to date, the U.S. Federal program has put in place a new platform that all users must use to transfer their data.
What will this Social Security update imply?
On August 31, 2018, the Social Security Administration stopped using the My Social Security website and switched to Login.gov. For that reason, everyone who was supposed to benefit had to move their information from the old site to the new one by the end of the month.
Beneficiaries whose accounts have not been transferred yet will have them stopped and then deleted starting September 30th. The old website is being shut down in its entirety. Because of this, a lot of people might not be able to get to their service information.
