When someone in Southern Pines heard a loud crash in front of their house, they went outside and saw that someone had hit and damaged their parked Jeep. The driver had then left the scene of the accident.
The accident took place on Carlisle Street, which is just off of Pennsylvania Avenue, around 10:30 p.m.
Police say that the driver of a GMC SUV was going north on South Carlisle Street when the SUV went off the right side of the road and hit a parked Jeep Wrangler. The crash did a lot of damage to the back of the Jeep.
Authorities say the driver of the SUV left it in the middle of the road after leaving it a short distance away. Southern Pines police went to the spot of the accident and are now actively looking for the driver who hit the other car and then drove away.
