The newest North Carolina hospital rankings show Duke University Hospital in Durham as the top hospital for the 12th year.

According to U.S. News & World Report, these North Carolina hospitals score highest:

  1. Duke University Hospital (Durham) – No. 1 in NC, No. 7 nationally for in 10 Children’s Specialties.
  2. UNC Hospitals (Chapel Hill) – No. 2 in NC.
  3. Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center (Charlotte) – No. 3 in NC.
  4. UNC Rex Hospital (Raleigh) – No. 4 in NC.
  5. ECU Health Medical Center (Greenville) – No. 5 in NC.

Pediatric Care Highlights:

  • Duke University Hospital ranked No. 2 nationwide for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery.
  • Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center ranked No. 8 in the same category.

North Carolina hospitals scored well in specialized care, but none earned the Best Hospitals Honor Roll, which honors hospitals with outstanding performance across multiple specialties.

U.S. News & World Report ranks hospitals using data from the government and feedback from medical workers. They look at things like how well patients do and how good the care is. Only 18 of the 136 hospitals in North Carolina that were looked at met the requirements to be named.
