ELLERBE — A bluegrass band from Richmond County will play a free show on Thursday, which will be the first of a weekend full of live music in Richmond County.
From 6 to 8 p.m., the Axe Handlers will play at Picking in the Park, which is in the park by the light at the corner of Page and Main streets.
In an advertising video, guitarist Luke Vuncannon said, “Bring your lawn chairs, bring your dancing shoes, and bring your appetite.” He also said that there would be food trucks there.
Vuncannon said that Picking in the Park could become a series with different bands and types of music if a lot of people show up.
Also on Thursday, Kyle Garris, from Richmond County, will play at Norton Farms for the first of two shows this week, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
For three to nine p.m., Fatman’s Kitchen, Tacos Mr. Pancho, Gely’s Churros & Snacks, Burger Bros, Puckered Up Lemonade, and Britton’s BBQ and Grill will all be there with their food trucks.
On Friday, Clark Bennett will play, and some of the food trucks will be switched out. Norton’s will not have food trucks or entertainment on Saturday, though, because of Dancing with the Stars.
On Friday, Vagabond will play at Hudson Brothers Deli in Rockingham and the Beach Fever Band will play at Axe to Grind in Hamlet. On Saturday, Chance Howland will play at Striker’s Lounge in Rockingham.
Bowtie Entertainment has karaoke every Wednesday at Striker’s Lounge and every Saturday at Axe to Grind for people who want to sing their favorite songs. Also, Hudson Brothers has singing every Wednesday and Double Vision has it every Friday.
