If you don’t get your payment on your exact payday, the Social Security Administration says to wait three mailing days. Checks for some seniors may have been stolen, arrived late, or even been lost.
You should also get in touch with the bank or other financial company that is sending your Social Security payment. They might not always be able to send payments on time, or they might be having computer issues.
After waiting for 3 mailing days for Social Security payments
Social Security says you need to call them at 1-800-772-1213 or TTY 1-800-325-0778 if you are deaf or hard of hearing to report a payment that is late, lost, or stolen.
People who are supposed to get their monthly payment but haven’t yet can also go to their local office. An agent might be able to figure out why your payment is late, lost, or stolen in this case.
After they look over your case, they will decide if the fees need to be changed or not. If it’s still due, it will be sent out again right away. Some people who break the rules could lose their Social Security.
Missing payment on September 18 or 25
You can do the same thing you did for the September 11 payment if your payment is late on September 18 or September 25, and you are eligible for one of those dates. Toll-free at 1-800-772-1213, call SSA.
You should check to see if you have broken any Social Security rules. For instance, if you go to jail for more than 30 days in a row, your Social Security payments will end. It doesn’t matter if it’s a jail, prison, or some other type of jail.
According to the law, if you are found guilty of a crime and are being held in an institution at public cost, the Administration cannot pay your retirement benefits.
