FLETCHER, N.C. (WLOS) — “We CAN Fight Hunger Day” is on September 11, 2016. It is put on by Ingles and the North Carolina Mountain State Fair.
Anyone who comes to the show with five canned goods or other non-perishable foods will get in for free.
MANNA FoodBank in Western North Carolina will pick up and give out all gifts.
Micah Chrisman, who is in charge of marketing and media for MANNA FoodBank, said, “We need food more than ever.” Every month, we help about 158,000 people in sixteen counties in Western North Carolina.
A lot of families need help, and last year, about 22,000 pounds of food were given away at this event. That’s why we want to beat that number this year.”
