North Carolina police have found the source of online school gun threats

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — State officials say they have found the person who made the gun threat on social media that named dozens of North Carolina schools.

Parents called News 13 on September 10 to talk about another social media threat, and Haywood County Schools shared a message from the North Carolina Information Sharing and Analysis Center (NC ISAAC).

In the release, NC ISAAC said it knew about a plan to shoot up several school districts in North Carolina.

“The threat was sent on social media and named more than 40 schools in North Carolina. “Dates were written next to some schools,” part of the message said. “Law enforcement has determined there is no credible threat.”

The NC ISAAC said that the threat’s source has been found and that “intervention has been conducted.”

Dozens of students left Pisgah High School on Monday, September 9, because they said they heard threats of a possible school killing.

Teens who took part in the walkout said that things started on Friday when they brought attention to threats made on social media against the school on Friday and Monday.
