PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – On September 9, the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said that a business in Pender County will get $4.3 million as part of a grant package worth over $12.4 million that was just given out in the state.
An announcement from NCDA&CS says the goal of the federal funds is to boost “value-added goods and products manufactured in the state.”
Cardinal Foods will get $4.3 million in Pender Co. to help it process more sweet potatoes.
“We’ve been working to give farmers more chances to add value, and we were able to get the General Assembly to give us money that will help protect our food supply.” Both farmers and consumers will gain a lot from this. And Troxler said.
“This first round of NCAMPI-funded products will give farmers more options, lower prices for both farmers and consumers, create more jobs, and bring in an extra $63.4 million in private investment right here in North Carolina.” We know that our farmers and growers need more nearby ways to process and sell their goods, and these projects will help meet those needs.
