Medical Debt in New York: A Growing Concern

A Step Towards Affordable Healthcare: Experts Weigh In

According to public news service, Medical debt is a major concern for many New Yorkers. It can cause significant stress and anxiety, making it hard to manage finances. To alleviate this burden, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has suggested a new approach: removing medical debt from credit reports.

This change would allow people to focus on paying off their medical debt without worrying about it affecting their credit scores, reducing their financial stress and anxiety.

Citizen Action of New York head Ursula Rozum believes this is a great thought. She believes that everyone should be able to get medical care without worrying about how much it will cost.

Kamala Harris, who is Vice President, also agrees with this idea. Some Republicans in Congress don’t agree, but they do think it’s a good step toward making health care cheaper.

In some places, medical debt is a bigger problem. Because they can’t get health insurance or because the healthcare system isn’t fair to them, black and Latino families often have more medical bills. Because of something called “facility fees,” medical bills are also going up.

Laws have been made in New York to try to fix this issue, but more needs to be done to make sure that everyone can get reasonable health care.
