The CSUF men's soccer team lost badly to No. 13 Stanford, 5-0

Losing their third straight game to start the season, Cal State Fullerton men’s soccer lost 5-0 to No. 13 Stanford thanks to a terrible defensive showing.

The Titans’ record is now 0-3 after the loss. Their losing run of three games is the longest for the team since 2021.

The last time CSUF played, they had a score of 12-5-3. They are two losses short of the number of losses they had last season after only three games.

On both sides of the ball, the Cardinal were better than the Titans.

The Titans had 15 shots, but only 5 of them hit the goal. They didn’t score because Stanford’s Rowan Schnebly made five saves in goal.

Brandon Limes, the CSUF goalie, only made four saves and let five goals through.

More goals have been scored against Limes than any other goalie in the Big West this season. He has given up eight in just two games. Last year with Cal State Bakersfield, Limes only let in 14 goals, which was the fewest of any goalie in the conference.

Because the Titans committed 13 fouls and Stanford only five, the Cardinal won because of the foul difference.

In the 14th minute, Stanford forward Shane de Flores scored the first goal of the game with help from midfielder Fletcher Bank. This gave the Cardinal a 1-0 lead over the Titans.

Stanford went ahead 2-0 when Bank scored their second goal in the 63rd minute, with help from midfielders Zach Bohane and Will Cleary. CSUF hung on until that point.

He got his second goal of the game in the 83rd minute, giving Stanford its third goal.

The Titans had an epic fall in the last two minutes of the game. Another loss for CSUF came when they gave up goals in the 89th and 90th minutes.

CSUF lost by five points in the end, ending a poor three-game road trip.

Once again, the Titans will play their home opener at Titan Stadium on Sunday against Utah Tech. The game starts at 5 p.m.
