A father is sad about the deaths of his son and wife in a wrong-way crash in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. – A father wrote a sad post on Reddit about his 14-year-old son and his wife, who both died in a San Jose crash going the wrong way.

Cameron Olsen didn’t want to talk on camera, but he wrote about his son Charles “Charlie” George Olsen and his 47-year-old wife Rebecca “Bec” Joanne Olsen Thursday and let his feelings out.

Also, Cameron Olsen told the Mercury News that he was the one who wrote the post.

A mother and son were killed in a crash on Monday on Highway 85 going north, just south of Santa Teresa Boulevard.

The California Highway Patrol says that Duncan McQuarrie, 39, of Orlando, Florida, was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck south in the northbound lanes of the highway. His truck hit Rebecca Olsen’s Tesla, killing her and her son.

McQuarrie was taken to the hospital.

At the time, McQuarrie wasn’t in jail, but it wasn’t clear what his legal situation was at the moment.

Cameron Olsen talked about the “outpouring of love” that people have shown him since the deaths of his son and wife. He also called Charlie, who just started at Summit Tahoma High School, “the most incredible young man.” “He was my whole world.”

The headmaster, Jonathan Stewart, told KTVU that he was “heartbroken” to hear the news, especially since he is a parent himself.

Cameron Olsen said that Chuck was born in England but he and his wife are both from Australia. He wrote that they went to California 12 years ago for a tech job.

Cameron Olsen said that his son had been to more than 30 countries, including Syria, Lebanon, Russia, and Azerbaijan. He said that his son was one of the most traveled kids he knew. He learned Arabic by himself when he was five years old.

Cameron Olsen wrote, “He was very, very special, and yes, I know most parents say that.” “He was my best friend, my travel buddy and the only person I ever truly felt at home with.”

He said that what happened doesn’t make him mad. He has a strong feeling of loss.

“Losing a child is the ultimate nightmare for a parent,” he said. “Yes, it does feel wrong. I want my son back more than anything else.”
