Social Security 2025 COLA Will payouts increase from 2024

Millions of SSI, Social Security, and Disability Insurance recipients must be worrying about the 2025 COLA. After major cost-of-living changes, dissatisfaction may be prevalent.

Only SNAP users will receive a payment hike on October 1. Most Social Security recipients will receive the increase on January 3, 8, 15, and 22, 2025. However, SSI recipients will receive it December 31, 2024.

Will Social Security payments increase above the 2024 COLA?

Just so you know, it’s not likely that payments for retirement, SSDI, and SSI will go up above the 2024 COLA. This is because COLAs in the past were higher than usual, but this year’s seems to be smaller.

Some people with low incomes in the United States are still having a hard time making ends meet, even though inflation has slowed down. Take a look at how COLAs have changed over the last few years.

An important date for the Social Security 2025 COLA

As of October 10, 2025, the next COLA number will be made public. This is when September’s CPI-W will be made public. Social Security can then use the CPI-W for July, August, and September in both 2024 and 2023 to see how they differ.

The 2025 COLA amount will need to be worked out during these months. Even though the Senior Citizens League only predicted a 2.57 percent increase, it is still good news for low-income Americans who get benefits from retirement, SSDI, or SSI. In fact, the Administration will give them more money.

In this case, if the average retirement payment in July 2024 is $1,919, these people can get about $1,968. As a result, they will get an extra $49.00 a month on average. That could add up to $588 in just one year. The more money you get from Social Security, the bigger your check will be.
