SSI payment dates and the best moment to apply for this benefit in 2024

SSI payouts are not paid for by the Social Security Administration. They are, in fact, a Federal scheme. But the Agency is in charge of processing applications and setting up funds every month.

People who are poor and don’t have many means must meet one of these three conditions in order to get SSI. They have to be blind, have a condition that qualifies them, or be at least 65 years old.

Payment dates for SSI

When it comes to SSI payouts, the Social Security Administration has shown that there are 5 more payments to come in 2024. There is one more, though. It will be sent early on December 31 and is for the month of January.

SSS payments will have to be sent on the working day before January 1 because that day is a federal holiday. In the same way, the payment that was due on September 1 will now be due on August 30.

This is because September 1 is a Sunday. Sundays are not business days for the SSA. People in the USA who get Supplemental Security Income will normally get paid on October 1 and November 1. Still, people who are supposed to get this payment in December will get it on November 29, 2024.

SSI applications in 2024

Even though you can apply for Supplemental Security Income at any time of the year, some people may find it easier to get approved after this date. This is because there will be some changes to Social Security.

These changes will help more Americans with low incomes get help, and some may even get a bigger payment. On September 30, 2024, these changes will start to take place.

From that point on, if you aren’t sure if you meet all the standards, it would be best to apply for Supplemental Security Income. Some of the changes that will help people who apply for SSI are:

  • Expand Access to the Program by Updating the Definition of a Public Assistance Household
  • Expand the Supplemental Security Income Rental Subsidy Policy
  • Remove Barriers to Accessing Supplemental Security Income Payments (ISM)
