SNAP (Food Stamps) replacement available after power outage in parts of this State

People who get SNAP benefits might lose the food they bought with Food Stamps if the power goes out. Some people in northeast Ohio might get a duplicate. Ohio’s Director of Job and Family Services, Matt Dam Schroder, said that the USDA has given the state permission to automatically replace the benefits of some recipients.

Some people who are qualified may benefit from SNAP replacement for Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga counties. In fact, they might be able to get Food Stamps again by August 30, 2024. They won’t have to wait long for the money to show up on their Ohio Direction Cards or EBT cards.

Who will qualify for SNAP replacement in Ohio?

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says that people in all of Lake and Geauga counties will be able to get the waiver. They will also help people who live in the following Cuyahoga Zip Codes:

The Summit County Department of Job and Family Services says that the power outage must last for more than 4 hours in order to be qualified for SNAP money. Without a doubt, it will lead to food loss.
