ROCKINGHAM, N.C. —
Schools in Rockingham County are getting new security
Middle and high schools in the city are getting systems that look for weapons.
The Open Gate System gave them the tech. Part of the reason for this is grant money from the Center for Safer Schools.
A little less than $500,000. Was spent on the project as a whole.
Leaders in the district say that J.E. Holmes Middle School was the first school in the district to use the technology, which began in April of last year.
