A New Chance for Cecilia
Undocumented Immigrant’s Journey to Legal Status
According to ABC News, Cecilia was a little girl when she came to the United States with her family from Mexico. But she didn’t have the right papers to stay here. She was set on becoming a chemist but couldn’t find work or go to school. She had to wait for a chance to fix her work.
Celia got an email from the government on Monday. She had applied for a special program that helps spouses of U.S. citizens who are not U.S. citizens get legal status. The name of the program, “Keeping Families Together,” was given by President Joe Biden. It was great news for Cecilia that her application was accepted!
From Hope to Reality: Cecilia’s New Life Begins
Celia is glad she can fix her papers and start over with her life. She can now get a work permit and look into becoming a permanent residency. She wants to own a house, get a good job, and raise her child with her husband. Cecilia shows that even when things look hopeless, people can work hard and keep going.
