Around 7:26 p.m. on August 9, Rockingham County Rescue Squads, Rockingham County EMS, the Williamsburg Fire Department, and other first responders from Rockingham County were called to 277 Clearwater Lane in Brown Summit, N.C., because a tree had fallen on a mobile home.
When the first rescuers got there, they were sad to find that Hilda Windsor Jones, 78, had been inside the house when the tree fell and killed her.
When the tree fell, there was no one else in the house. The tree is thought to have been caused by weather from Hurricane Debby.
We at the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, along with Sheriff Sam Page, are sending our deepest condolences and prayers to Hilda Jones’s family and friends.
