A terrible incident at the Arizona Biltmore has come into closer focus as information emerge about the death of Luke Linnett, an eight-year-old Iowa child, who was killed when a statue toppled on him.
Linnett was with his family at the resort on November 27 when he attempted to climb one of the “Sprites,” a collection of statues built by Frank Lloyd Wright and Alfonso Ianelli that were not attached to their bases.
According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the statue tipped over, resulting in the boy’s tragic injury while his mother was nearby waiting for a grocery delivery.
Following the event, the Phoenix Police Department found that there was no foul play and ended the case on December 4, calling the death an accident caused by blunt force injuries. Statements provided by the family’s attorney, Dennis I.
Wilenchik told AZCentral that the incident was devastating and that the family was devastated. “This should never have happened and is scary, but it is also a reminder to us all to hold and cherish our loved ones, especially our children, and to thank God every day for what we have and what is important in life.”
