A Florida school bus driver has been arrested for allegedly pulling a six-year-old boy’s hair and causing him to be tormented.
Lazaro Treminio, 34, has been charged with child abuse and neglect following separate instances while working in Miami.
Treminio was arrested after he allegedly intervened in an altercation between the victim and his own daughter on November 20, according to CBS. Treminio urged the youngster “never to touch his daughter” after she allegedly tried to fight him and his sister. During the altercation, he allegedly tugged the boy’s hair.
Police said the confrontation took place in the afternoon near the 2400 block of Northwest Seventh Street. However, during his questioning, the boy revealed that Treminio had previously been cruel towards him.
According to CBS, he has previously claimed that the bus driver ‘encouraged other students to bully him’. He described an event in which another child shoved him to the ground on the bus and banged his head.
According to Law & Crime, the victim in the case was “very articulate” and could “differentiate between the truth and a lie” according to the arrest record. His ten-year-old sister also supported his testimony with investigators, saying Treminio told her not to tell their parents what had happened. She also verified that her brother was bullied with the bus driver’s knowledge.
Treminio declined to be represented by a counsel, and he was eventually put into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $7,500 bond, according to police.
