Florida Is Gaining A New Hospital And An Emergency Room Plus Town Center Close By

Healthcare and the availability of quality hospitals is a matter that Floridians of all ages care about. Nobody wants to think about having to use a hospital, but when you must, you want one of the best.

According to the Florida Hospital Association, Florida hospitals are experiencing a “critical workforce shortage,” with a projected shortage of 59,000 nurses by 2035. Some Floridians will be pleased to learn that Florida is getting a new hospital, as well as a new ER “town center” in another city.

The New Orlando Health Hospital In Lake Mary And A HealthCare Center And ER With A “Town Center” In Longwood: In 2022, it was reported that Orlando Health intended to redesign its Seminole County campus as a new healthcare center in downtown Longwood, as well as a new ER.

Furthermore, the Longwood ER was scheduled to open about the same time as Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital closed and a new Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital opened.

Longwood’s campus is slated to include a 15-acre “town center” with a mix of residential, retail, and business spaces.

Patients will start moving to the new hospital soon, and the town center should begin to take shape: near early January 2025, it was announced that patients would begin migrating from South Seminole Hospital to the new hospital near Lake Mary on January 11, 2025. Additionally, approximately 1,000 employees will relocate to the new site near Lake Mary.

Once the transition is complete, Orlando Health and Longwood officials will collaborate on the “town center.” The new Longwood standalone emergency room is scheduled to open in February 2025.

The former Orlando Health complex will reportedly be dismantled for “commercial development.”

The ancient campus has gotten positive evaluations and is well-traveled. It has around 2,500 ratings on Google ratings, with an average rating of 4.4 out of 5. Kate provides a typical positive review, writing:

“We thank you for your wonderful care. So happy our emergency happened in your area. All the testing was done to diagnose my husband’s problem. He was cared for in a very professional manner. Only good things can be said about you. Continue the good work.”
