The Social Security Administration has finally released the dates in 2025 when people will get twice as much money from their benefits.
In 2025, Social Security payments will go up by a small 2.5%. Because January 1 is a holiday, people who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will get their extra money in December instead of January.
This is because the regular payment schedule has changed. People who get Social Security benefits should know that if their payment date falls on a holiday or weekend, the federal government will move it to the business day before, so they can get their benefits without any problems.
Social Security has confirmed the days when beneficiaries will receive double payments this year
The 2025 Social Security payment schedule says that people who get SSI will get twice as much money in May, August, October, and December.
Beneficiaries should not forget that they will not be getting extra money; instead, they will be getting money early because of the holidays. Based on the schedule we already talked about, here are all of the dates that people who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will be paid:
SSI payments | SSI payments date | Double payments |
January | December 31st | January 31st (February 1st) |
February | – | February 28th (March 1st) |
March | – | – |
April | April 1st | – |
May | May 1st | May 30th (June 1st) |
June | – | – |
July | July 1st | – |
August | August 1st | August 29th (September 1st) |
September | – | – |
October | October 1st | October 31st (November 1st) |
November | – | – |
December | December 1st | December 31st (January 1st) |
If you do not get your double payments on the dates they were supposed to, please remember that you have to wait three mailing days before filing a claim or going to a Social Security office.
Do not forget that you can get to your “My Social Security Account” and find out more about your monthly payments, download your financial statements, or ask for help with other Social Security-related tasks.
SSI recipients will earn between $1,430 and $2,900 in double payments in 2025
