According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, a woman was arrested last week at a Converse Whataburger after giving birth to a baby in the bathroom, who died. The 33-year-old lady was charged with abusing a body.
Mallori Strait came at the Whataburger restaurant around midnight on Thursday, December 19, and remained in the lobby until about 2 a.m., according to the arrest affidavit.
According to the story, Strait went to the bathroom and remained there for several hours. The restaurant manager checked on Strait “continuously,” gave her water, and reported that the woman was “making noise inside the stall.”
According to the report, after many hours inside the restroom, the manager told Strait she needed to leave and phoned 911 because she was concerned about the woman. According to the affidavit, the manager saw “a portion” of a newborn baby when looking into the stall.
A fire fighter, according to the report, “had to physically grab the [baby] and pull on the [baby] to remove the body from inside the ‘U trap’ of the drain on the toilet.”
After first responders attempted life-saving efforts, the infant was taken out of the amniotic sack and proclaimed dead. According to the article, the infant was delivered between 28 and 30 weeks gestation.
A doctor informed authorities that the infant’s injuries, including a deformed skull, were “consistent with the child being forced into the drain, and by suction” when flushing the toilet.
