Sacramento Families First is a pilot initiative that will send a $725 monthly stimulus check to families who satisfy the eligibility standards. The first payment was received on December 15, 2024, right in time for the Christmas festivities.
This is a check intended to help low-income households who have been affected by inflation as a result of the pandemic. The United States has had historic 8% inflation rates, putting many households in a terrible financial situation. So, the money is intended to let them breathe a little better.
Who can access the stimulus check program?
To participate, some prerequisites must be met. In this situation, the family’s income must fall within 200% of the poverty line. And keep an eye out, since just 200 Sacramento families will be chosen for this first part of the project.
It is critical that these families remain in Sacramento because if they leave, their benefits may be suspended. So, if you’re thinking about applying, stay close.
Oh, and note this: the program is designed to last until November 15, 2025, so families that join will be able to receive this support for a whole year.
Where does the money come from?
Rest assured that the initiative does not rely on magic or unexpected money. Several organizations are funding the initiative, including the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and the Sacramento County Department of Child, Family, and Adult Services (DCFAS). How are the payments made?
Here are two extremely simple options:
- Debit card: You can request it through the company Usio, which will manage the payments.
- Bank account: If you prefer, you can open an account at SAFE Credit Union to receive the deposit directly.
The best aspect is that the money is all yours, with no constraints on how you use it. Want to pay the rent? Go ahead. Do you prefer to use it on food or education? You can do it as well.
