A multi-agency investigation into a suspected illicit marijuana network led officials to a stash of mushrooms and firearms discovered inside a Bandon, Oregon, home on December 11, according to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office.
The South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team discovered the evidence while serving a search warrant at a residence on Highway 101.
“Detectives seized over two thousand mushrooms containing suspected amounts of psilocybin, 49 firearms including short-barreled rifles and shotguns, many of which are suspected to be obtained illegally, various grenades, and marijuana processing equipment,” the Sheriff’s Office of Coos County reported.
The Coos County Sheriff’s Office is cooperating with the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives on the investigation.
Following the raid, Matthew Houglum, a 50-year-old Oregon resident, and other accused co-conspirators face charges.
The search team included Oregon State Police, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Bandon Police, Coquille Police, North Bend Police, Coquille Tribal Police, Coos County Parole and Probation, and a US Coast Guard drone unit.
According to authorities, the inquiry is still ongoing.
