There are multiple options for migrants to receive a green card. The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced a new incentive for some persons applying for permanent status.
USCIS has changed its rules, allowing certain Afghan nationals who arrived during Operation Allies Welcome (OAW) to have their immigration medical examination papers valid indefinitely. This implies they won’t have to take the immigration medical exam again when applying for their green card.
Why has USCIS made this Green Card update?
USCIS recently updated the Policy Manual standards, resulting in this change. The updated Form I-485, used to register permanent residence or modify status, is now forever effective. This applies to all forms that are pending or submitted on or after November 13, 2024.
Eligibility Requirements for Afghan Migrants:
Afghan individuals seeking immigration benefits must undergo a thorough examination in the US. To document this examination, use Form I-693, which includes the immigration medical exam and immunization record. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) determined this criteria.

Purpose of Medical Examinations for immigrants in the United States
According to the official CDC website, all individuals outside the United States who apply for an immigration visa must undergo a medical examination. This applies to all refugees entering the country. The Department of State (DOS) selects panel physicians to perform these examinations.
