Following a deadly incident near the crossroads with Pee Dee Road, authorities shut down a part of Highway 15-501. The crash occurred around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
A witness informed Moore County News that the driver of a Kia Seltos ran a stop sign and collided with a casket vault truck. Both vehicles left the road, and the vault truck struck a tree.
The driver of the vault truck was pronounced deceased on the site. A passenger in the truck and the driver of the Kia were transported to a medical center.
The route remained closed for a long time while emergency services examined and cleared the area.
