Right around the corner is the New Year, and people in the US who get SSI need the money to make ends meet. People who receive gifts are likely to have a lot of extra costs around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other big events like Black Friday.
The Social Security Administration set the SSI payment for December 1 on November 29. Since the first of the month isn’t a business day, there won’t be a check on deposit on that day. It will come two days earlier than planned.
Will there be an SSI payment after November 29 before 2025 comes?
In fact, the Social Security Administration has confirmed that there will be another payment on December 31, 2024. So, the Supplemental Security Income payment that people will get on November 29 will not be the last one they get this year.
Just so you know, the January payment will not be sent out on January 1, 2025. The SSA never sends the money on a Federal Holiday, like the first of the year. Instead, they always send it in the previous month.
So, the money you get from the Federal Government on December 31, 2024, should be saved for January’s costs. But who can get $1,450 or $1,415?
SSI maximum payment amounts for couples
In 2024, the most a person who gets Supplemental Security Income can get is $943. Because the 2025 COLA went up by 2.5%, a person will get up to $967 from December 31, 2024, on.
Still, married couples who are eligible will get up to $1,450 in 2025 because of the cost of living adjustment. It was $1,415 before. To get such a big amount, you shouldn’t have to pay less.
For married couples on SSI, having no income and no resources is the easiest way to get the most money. Of course you need to:
- have a qualifying disability, or
- be blind, or
- be at least 65 years old.
An essential person will only receive up to $472 in 2024 and up to $484 in 2025.
