ROCKINGHAM — Santa and his reindeer are back on their regular perch atop Discovery Place Kids.
City workers spent the late morning and early afternoon putting up the iconic display, which came crashing down after a storm eight days before Christmas last year.
Randy Warren and volunteers from Arts Richmond recently completed a renovation job to prepare the show for this year.
Susan Perkins and Mari Bennett touched up Santa’s red paint while city workmen raised the sleigh onto the roof.
Perkins, Bennett, and city workers transported each reindeer down the block and along the sidewalk to their final location.
The city began decorating for the holidays last week.
The 22nd annual Rockingham Christmas Tree Lighting is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, with Bob Sargent, promoter for the next NASCAR weekend at Rockingham Speedway, flipping the switch.
Christmas on the Square, a nearly 30-year local tradition, is slated for Saturday, December 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
