Kissimmee man pleads guilty to attempting to meet with a 13-year-old child to engage in sexual activity

Orlando, Florida — United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced that Pooran Ramjattan (61, Kissimmee) has pled guilty to attempting to seduce a minor to engage in sexual behavior. Ramjattan faces a minimum of ten years and a maximum of life in federal prison. A sentencing date has not been determined.

Court filings show that on May 1, 2024, a Federal Bureau of Investigation undercover agent posed online as a 13-year-old girl. Ramjattan contacted the undercover agent’s account and, upon learning the child’s age, began a sexually explicit conversation.

Ramjattan then agreed to meet the “child” at a designated place in Orange County for sexual activity. When Ramjattan arrived at the meeting site, he was arrested by police.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Orlando Police Department investigated this case. Assistant US Attorney Kaley Austin-Aronson is prosecuting the case.

The case was filed as part of Project Safe Childhood, a national campaign launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to tackle the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood, led by the United States Attorney’s Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, coordinates federal, state, and local resources to seek, seize, and prosecute persons who sexually exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.
