In the Carthage drug investigation, two are charged

Two men are facing charges in connection with a drug investigation in the Carthage region.

“On November 19, 2024, detectives concluded a drug investigation in the 1000 block of Monroe Street in Carthage, where prescription medication was found to be illegally distributed,” the Moore County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release.

Detectives confiscated a number of controlled narcotics, including suspected Suboxone, Xanax, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

Mitchell Goins, 40, of Carthage, has been arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule III controlled substance, delivery of a Schedule III controlled substance, felony possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Goins was granted a $100,000 secured bond, with a court hearing set for December 18.

Travis Alfred, 49, of Fayetteville, was also detained and charged with possession of methamphetamine, simple possession of a Schedule III restricted substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Alfred’s secured bail amount was set at $10,000. He is appearing in court on December 18.
