A Ford F-150 ended up in a ditch on its passenger side after the driver pulled over on the shoulder of the road for a first responder heading to an emergency.
A lady and her children were driving down Highway 73 near Jackson Springs when a first responder with lights activated approached them from behind. The mother drove to the side of the road to let the first responder pass, unaware that there was a steep ditch.
The first responder was heading to another accident on Mill Road. The first responder observed the F-150 tip into the ditch as they went by and turned around to check on the occupants.
Firefighters from Eagle Springs, Seven Lakes, and West End responded to the original alarm on Mill Road. The West End units heading to Mill Road were canceled shortly after and instead went to the scene of the tipped F-150.
Moore County EMS evaluated the mother and her children at the site, as they were disturbed up.
The collision on Mill Road occurred near the intersection with Flowers Road. A Chevy pickup truck collided with the back of a car that had slowed down for deer crossing the road. One passenger in the automobile was sent to the hospital for neck problems.
