A guy from Rockingham is facing felony charges after police discovered he made a fraudulent return while working at an Aberdeen business.
Aberdeen Police Chief Brian Chavis announced in a press statement that 48-year-old James McDougald was detained a day after the alleged incident.
On Nov. 5, officers from the Aberdeen Police Department were dispatched to a company at U.S. 1 and Magnolia Dr. in response to a previous larceny by an employee. The company’s name was not published.
“After investigating the claims, Aberdeen Officers obtained statements and reviewed accounting records, at which point they confirmed McDougald had conducted a fraudulent return while employed by the business,” Chavis told me. “Officers determined that McDougald had stolen over $1,500.00 from the business.”
McDougald was served with warrants for felony employee larceny and felony possession of stolen property.
The suspect was captured in Richmond County on November 6. His unsecured bond amount was set at $2,000.
