New coin hoard unearthed worth $120,000 containing 16th-century specimens

A lot of people in the United States want to find a hoard of coins from hundreds of years ago. These people definitely think it will be valuable since it has the power to change their lives and their finances. In Poland, a father and his son just found a treasure.

Imagine finding an old treasure from the time of the Thirty Years’ War. On top of that, it has a very rare piece called the 1630 Sigismund III Vasa thaler. The thaler is a German coin that you should know about. Besides this great piece, it has a John II thaler from 1623 that says “Interesting Engineering.”

The coin hoard finders

Interesting Engineering says that the father and son who found this old cache are part of the Triglav Historical and Research Association. Part of the treasure comes from the 1600s and part from the 1700s.

The spot where it was found was near Pomiechówek in Poland, and it is worth about $120,000. It was only after counting all the pieces that they realized they had found 17 silver pieces.

Which is why the Polish “Husaria” Treasure Hunters Association’s trip was a huge success. The real reason for the trip was something else. They were really looking for a trade route from the time of the Romans.

A coin hoard with historical significance

An archaeologist who talked about the find said that because of its size, it might be the most important find of its kind in Poland. Poles at PAP say that the cache has coins from the Netherlands, Brandenburg, and Saxony.

The Sigismund III Vasa thaler from 1630 was made in Toruń, Poland. It’s hard to believe that there were also coins from the Spanish Netherlands. Don’t forget that there were pieces from Saxony that showed Leopold V, Frederick I, and other kings.

When someone finds a treasure, they often start to think about how it got there. People can only guess, but it’s very likely that it was hidden because of a battle.
