West Virginia miners celebrated for their contributions to the reconstruction of a road in western North Carolina

On Sunday, West Virginia’s governor praised Mountain State miners for their efforts to rebuild in western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene.

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice posted a photo on Sunday of nine men who are credited with helping restore a route from Bat Cave to Chimney Rock, North Carolina.

“Another reminder of why West Virginia miners are the absolute best in the world,” he said.

The group garnered popularity on social media after footage were uploaded of them helping to reconstruct the road.

@thejasonaward1 Wednesday, October 23, 2024 Today we were finally able to make it back up to Bat Cave, to the supply hub that you guys have allowed us to help get started with your donations to Silverados. The miracles being worked there, and the mountains literally being moved by the people, will forever be one of the most beautiful things you’ll ever see with your own two eyes. ✊🏽🇺🇸 #hurricaneHelene#wnc # ##Appalachia##fyp♬ original sound – Jason A Ward
