On Monday, a federal judge in New York declared Rudy Giuliani in contempt of court for failing to give over personal property and documents to two Georgia election workers he had defamed.
Judge Lewis Liman agreed with Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, who said Giuliani had “not turned over a single dollar” to settle the $148 million judgment against the former New York City mayor.
The election workers claimed that Giuliani didn’t give away “a signed Joe DiMaggio shirt, signed Reggie Jackson picture, signed Yankee Stadium picture, or many of the various household goods or furnishings that he valued at $20,000 and which public photographs show he possessed in his New York Apartment.”
Giuliani was found responsible in 2023 for falsely accusing Freeman and Moss of tampering with the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.
In a statement, Giuliani representative Ted Goodman stated that attorneys “might be happy to fight to take away Mayor Giuliani’s most cherished personal belongings, including his signed baseball jersey of his childhood hero and his grandfather’s pocket watch, but they can never take away his extraordinary record of public service.”
