In New Jersey, a driver has been charged after leaving a disabled passenger in his van overnight

A woman was accused after a disabled person was left in a van overnight in New Jersey, prosecutors said on Sunday.

Winnie Raini, 53, of Edison, who worked as a private transportation driver, was charged with endangering another person and neglecting a disabled person, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.

An inquiry discovered that on January 2, 2024, Raini reportedly abandoned an adult female victim with a developmental handicap in a van overnight. Raini is currently suspended from her position at Inspiring NJ Transportation LLC.

She is now being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending the outcome of her first appearance hearing in Superior Court.

The investigation is ongoing.
