I-41 is stopped due to a crash and a fire. New Year's Morning

Drivers in Wisconsin who wanted to travel on I-41 on New Year’s Day may have had to find an alternate route because the roadway was closed for many hours due to a crash and a fire.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), at 2:57 a.m., emergency personnel responded extensively to a reported crash on I41 South at Wrightstown Road near Wrightstown.

The incident allegedly closed all lanes in both directions, but at 4:42 a.m., the situation was cleared and all lanes reopened.

Officials give options for avoiding drunk driving this holiday.
Then, at 3:29 a.m., all lanes on I-41 North near mile marker 156.5 in Brown County were closed due to a reported fire, according to WisDOT.

Officials were able to remove the fire area at 4:36 a.m., and all lanes on I-41 North have now reopened.

There is no additional information available regarding either incident. Local Five will update this story as more information becomes available.
