Five adults and one minor were charged in a 40-car street takeover in North Carolina

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. – Five adults and one kid were arrested following an illegal street takeover in Iredell County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers verified to Queen City News that approximately 40 automobiles were involved.

On Monday, about 5:10 p.m., officials responded to reports of reckless driving in the 400 block of Barfield Road. When they arrived, the road was entirely blocked owing to an unlawful street takeover.

Troopers say six trucks were turned over to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. All five adults were charged with careless and reckless driving, street takeover, and injury to real property.

A minor was also charged in connection with the incident.

Street takeovers are on the upswing in a major North Carolina city.

Meanwhile, in Charlotte, police arrested three people and issued five citations following several street takeovers over the weekend.
